About Us

The Point is an international hub for the development of artists.

Through creative residencies in our state-of-the-art Creation Space; our Associate Artist Scheme; and our programme of professional work, The Point supports artists to develop new work and reach new audiences.
In 2009 we opened the first UK fully residential Creation Space - a state-of-the-art, light-filled rehearsal studio with fully accessible accommodation, allowing artists 24-hour access to the rehearsal room.  A

rtists who have created work with us since we opened the Creation Space include: Akram Khan, Lone Twin, The Balletboyz, Gecko, RedCape Theatre, Vincent Dance Theatre, Gravity & Levity and Probe.

Our programme of professional work includes dance, theatre and film; bringing the very best British and international companies to perform in Eastleigh.  We specialise in programming risk-taking contemporary performance and contemporary dance. 

Our cross-artform Creative Learning programme involves thousands of members of the community each year. Through this programme we connect the work we do with artists at The Point with local people, developing Eastleigh as a creative community.

We also run an Associate Artists Scheme which allows us to support up to 8 emerging companies; giving them business and artistic mentorship, office, rehearsal and performance space.

Owned and managed by Eastleigh Borough Council, The Point was established in 1996 with one of the first lottery grants and has always had a strong emphasis on innovation and creative challenge. 

The Point is led by Artistic Director Owen Calvert-Lyons.
