In January The Point’s Associate Artists Sole Rebel Tap undertook a week-long residency in the Studio Theatre, concentrating on research and development for their new work Spatterdash. Following an eye-popping sharing which included moveable wooden plinths and a soundtrack that fused old and new music, the company was set firmly in the minds of those in attendance as they tapped the whole way home.

The talented tap-dancing group has also impressed the Arts Council England, who has awarded the company with £15,000 Grants for the Arts funding. This is fantastic news for Sole Rebel Tap who are making waves in their form with touring show Every Grain, new production Spatterdash, and two-woman project Blushed. Artistic Director Hannah Ballard said:

"We are over the moon to have received a Grants for the Arts Award from Arts Council England to continue developing and touring our work this year.  We will be creating a new show Spatterdash -  a smart sophisticated trio of tap dancers, in a full-to-the-brim ten-minute show. This will be premiered at Dancin' Oxford Festival on Saturday 27th February

"We will also be re-developing our two-woman tap-theatre show 'Blushed': Loosely inspired by The Red Shoes, ‘Blushed’ is a compendium of bonkers and brilliant adult fairytales told through tap dance. We are excited to be touring this to fringe festivals including Brighton, Edinburgh and Toronto this summer.

"We would like to express our thanks to the staff at The Point for their support and encouragement this year enabling us to achieve this."
