A Feel for Nature
A Feel for Nature
A Feel for Nature will be presented
in partnership with Salisbury International Arts Festival in 2012.
The Aim of The Nature of Art is to encourage people to engage with
‘local natural spaces in creative and innovative ways’ and those
that don’t usually have access to nature, those in disadvantaged
areas and those with disabilities.
There are plenty of nature trails and tours
that have been adapted so that visually impaired people can safely
access them. But not many, if any, nature trails have actually been
created by visually impaired people.
These participants come from Kings Copse Primary School, Toynbee
School and people connected to Open Sight charity in Bishopstoke.
A Feel for Nature is unique in this sense, as it will have
been created in collaboration and inspired by visually impaired
participants. The trail will take the form of an audio tour (mp3
players) with a map to accompany, both of which will be housed at
the Visitor Centre. There will also be plaques signposting the
tour, to embed it in the heart of the park.
