Apprentice Choreographer Scheme

The Point's 2011/12 Apprentice
Choreographer is local, Eastleigh based dancer Oliver
Gratton.
The apprentice choreographer scheme provides
Oliverwith a year-long part-time apprenticeship that allows
him to experience a bespoke package of opportunities to develop his
choreographic practise and create new work. For this years
scheme Charlotte Vincent, artistic director of Vincent Dance
Theatre, will be Oliver's mentoor for the year.
The programme is tailored to the
Olivers' interests and the opportunities he will
recieve include:
- Participation in choreographic master-classes
- Shadowing of Point associate artists through R&D, creation
and rehearsal periods
- Sitting in on get-in and performance days of visiting
professional companies where appropriate
- Participation in visiting and associate artists company class
where appropriate
- Free performance ticket for every professional dance
performance each season
- Participation in other relevant professional training
opportunities
- A free place on Elevate Create summer school 2012
In addition to this Oliver has
been commissioned to create a new work on a selected group of
local young dancers. Oliver is being mentored through
this process to provide guidance on his choreographic practise and
provide input into the creation of his work.
