Shanty Workshops - Bear Trap Theatre – 1st
March
Linking in with Bear Trap Theatre's production
Bound, we are delighted to invite
expressions of interest to take part in sea shanty workshops with
Folk Award winner Sam Carter.
This group activity is a great opportunity to
foster an interest in singing with children of Primary School age
and give them access to inspirational professional artists. The
workshops link directly into to the national curriculum, more
specifically ‘controlling sounds through singing and playing’ and
developing performance skills. For Key Stage 3, singing sea
shanties offers a cultural insight to the trawlermen of Devon and
the tradition of folk singing.
Other dates may also be possible on request.

The Unthanks - 18th April
Linking in
with the eagerly anticipated return of
The Unthanks to The Point, we are excited to be able to offer
Folk Singing workshops with the wonderful Rachel and Becky Unthank.
This is a unique opportunity for children in Early Years Settings
and Primary Schools. Children will have the opportunity to learn a
traditional form of singing as a group, with themes that have
cross-curricular references. Through live music and participating
in music making, pupils will be inspired to further engage with
music and have a wider perception of it.
These workshops will take place at The Point
on the 18th April.
