Year 10/11 Work Experience Placements

The Point is committed to providing work experience for students in year 10 or 11 who are interested in perusing a career in the creative arts industry.  We offer week long placements which are designed to offer insight and experience in the day-to-day running of a professional contemporary theatre venue, helping young people take that next step into their further education and career choices, as well as allowing experience of the realities of the world of work in the arts.

During your placement here at The Point, you can expect to gain a broad understanding of how each department within our theatre works and discover more about the different jobs that are available within the arts industry.  You will get involved with all aspects of the work we do and spend time with all of the departments from Creative Learning and Technical through to Box Office and Marketing, discovering how each department works together and contributes to the running of the venue,

There will be a variety of tasks for you to complete, some practical and some office based and you should be aware that the placement may involve some weekend or evening work, depending on productions and events that are taking place during your time with us. You might not yet be sure what it is you want to do in the theatre yet, but you will be enthusiastic about finding out more about each role and how this will help you develop your own skills and ambitions.
