The Point, Eastleigh and sister venue The Berry Theatre in Hedge End are calling all local people passionate about the arts to apply to become a volunteer usher across both venues.
The theatres are on the lookout for volunteer ushers to work at professional shows and at both venues’ family Christmas shows.
Duties are varied and wide-ranging, including handing out programmes, assisting audience members and providing correct show information. The role is flexible and ushers will often be able to usher at the shows of their choice.
"… the experience has been important both to my studies in dance and my communication skills; particularly as a student, being able to meet new people and socialise with interesting artists and staff. It is a fun, easy environment to work in and a great way to see an eclectic mix of performances." – Jasmin McCarroll, volunteer usher
Becoming an usher at The Point and The Berry Theatre offers a great opportunity to learn more about the workings of a successful professional venue, with volunteers given the chance to meet some of the country’s leading visiting companies.
This role is perfect for people passionate about the arts, as well as those looking to forge a career in the industry.
Ushers must be 16 and over and be confident dealing with members of the public.
