Dance Projects
As well as organising the dance classes at The Point, the dance
team work closely with schools, colleges and community groups. It
is their mission to ensure that a wide range of people,
regardless of knowledge or experience can have access to the
benefits of dance, both in terms of health and social
interaction and cohesion.

The Point’s annual showcase of boys dance took
place on Sunday 2nd March. The event was of the highest
standard ever, with fantastic work performed by around 100 boys and
young men.
Eleven groups from across the south east
region took part including D-Men from Swindon, Adrenalin from the
Isle of Wight, Fiargo Dance Company from Portchester, Toynbee
School, Fuzzy Vision, Fuzzy L
ogic,
Soul Patrol, Brockhill Performing Arts College from Kent, Sarpaiet
from Basingstoke and Pulse from Thornden School in Chandler’s
Ford.
The performers also took part in break dance
workshops during the day led by JP Omari from BBC1’s Strictly Dance
Fever as a fun way to warm up and also learn some new skills.

A number of VIP’s attended the performance
including the Mayor and Mayoress of Eastleigh and the sell-out
audience thoroughly enjoyed the show.
Some of the performers said:
The workshop was the best and JP was
really cool!
Brilliant workshop with excellent
tutor
It was one of the biggest shows I’ve ever
done
A chance to meet new people… inspiring to
meet other participants
I enjoyed every part and would love to
come and perform again!
One of the teachers said:
"It was such a great event as usual and
the boys got so much out of it. Not only do they get to
perform on a stage in front of a massive audience but they get to
meet older boys who dance and it just raises the profile of it even
higher when they see what’s happening in boys dance! Had quite
a few saying they are taking GCSE dance now so that’s
awesome!"
The Graduates 08
The Graduates 08 was a three-day event
culminating in a showcase of work by student dancers from the
Universities of Chichester and Winchester, the Hong Kong Academy
for Performing Arts and the school at the Centre Choregraphique
Nationale in Roubaix, France.
As well as performing in the main theatre to
near sell-out audience the 60 students took part in a workshop led
by choreographer Fin Walker of Walker Park Dance Music and a social
event where they all got to know each other and share their
differing experiences of dance training at the four different
institutions.
Two dance classes took place on the last day
which allowed the students and the general public to have a taster
of classes taught at the two foreign institutions HKAPA and
CCN.
