That Clarinet Vibe
with Julian Marc Stringle & Mark
Crooks
At the Concorde
Club
Wednesday 25th February at 9pm
To quote the group's own description 'this is
a dynamic sextet of virtuoso players in a sparkling tribute to
Benny Goodman & Buddy de Franco with a little Lionel Hampton
& Oscar thrown in' featuring the unusual duo of award winning
clarinettists Julian Marc Stringle & Mark Crooks playing
together.
Described by Johnny Dankworth 'as probably the
best clarinettist to emerge for decades' & winner of two
British Jazz Awards, Julian's unique sound is complemented by
Mark's distinctive style. A former 'Young Jazz Player of the Year',
Mark is also a member of the Back to Basie Orchestra & the
featured soloist in A Tribute to Artie Shaw. With an excellent
backing group including the brilliant young Jim Hart on vibes, this
is certainly a band crammed full of talent & one not to be
missed.
