A Celebration of Rosemary Squires – 60 YEARS OF SONG

At the Concorde Club

Wednesday 4th March at 9pm

Joining Rosemary on this special celebration are Brian Dee (piano), Jim Richardson (bass), Bobby Worth (drums), Ronnie Hughes (trumpet), Alan Barnes (sax / clarinet) & Colin Green (guitar).

'A national treasure' - so ran the headline from a recent review for Britain's first lady of song. It's an overworked term but as much-loved singer Rosemary Squires MBE embarks on her Diamond Anniversary year, celebrating 60 years of making music, she is still topping the bill.

An early ambition to become a jazz singer flourished into Big Band, Cabaret & Variety. Known as the 'Queen of the Jingles' her 'Hands that do dishes...' is the longest running jingle ever.

This year Rosemary is recording a CD with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by tour as the star guest with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Says Rosemary 'I seem to have been discovered more times than Sooty!'. As distinctive as she is enduring, as accomplished as she is self-mocking, Rosemary Squires is as much of the darling of her army of fans today as ever.

Rosemary's modest demeanour & down-to-earth style may sometimes mask the brilliance of her talent & the extent of her achievements, but the longevity of her glittering career is down to far more than her common touch - she has versatility of style & a purity of voice that have stood the test of time.

As sprightly & vivacious as ever, Rosemary nowadays tends to pick & choose her appearances, but demand remains undimmed. A regular broadcaster & twice voted most televised vocalist of the year. Rosemary has shared top billing at major venues on both sides of the Atlantic - from Danny Kaye & Sammy Davis Jnr to Cliff Richard & Ken Dodd.

Honoured in 2004 with the MBE for her services to music & charity, Rosemary has a gold badge of merit awarded by the British Academy of Songwriters.

It speaks volumes that she is as highly regarded throughout the music industry today as she ever was.
