Friday 12th January
Stopgap Dance Company create exhilarating dance productions for national and international touring, employing disabled and non-disabled artists who find innovative ways to collaborate. Their productions offer a window into a parallel world where human interdependence, strength and vulnerability play out with poetic realism. Stopgap value a pioneering spirit and are committed to making discoveries about integrating disabled and non-disabled people through dance.
At Open Space, Stopgap Dance Company will be rehearsing their current touring production. The Enormous Room is a work of physical theatre that depicts the relationship between Dave and his daughter Sam, who are both trying to deal with the sudden death of their wife and mother, Jackie. In this production, the past remains present with the main characters and memories collide with reality. Combining exquisite detail in movement with evocative text and design, the production takes the audience somewhere in between this world and the next.
Each week we welcome some of the most exciting companies to test new ideas, take risks and break new ground in our Creation Space - and we open our doors inviting audiences to come and see work-in-progress in our Open Space series.
