As part of The Berry Theatre’s Storytelling Festival a newly commissioned play will tour libraries throughout Southampton and Eastleigh in April 2017.  Ellie’s Extraordinary Adventure is a play full of puppetry and song, and will follow the journey of Ellie as she journeys into and through many different books to find her lost brother and get both of them home in time for tea.  The production is aimed at a family audience, ages 4+.

Ellie’s brother Ollie is always reading, and when he does not come downstairs for tea one day, Ellie’s discovers that he has literally fallen inside a book and become lost!  By accident Ellie follows, and so begins an epic quest through a myriad stories, to find her brother and get them both home in time for tea.  Along the way Ellie will meet other characters (including Nokey-Poke the Snufflesnark and The Great Librarian), some of whom are quite human and others who are very much not.  At last Ellie finds her way to the Great Library, the place where all books, all stories and all worlds meet.  Here she at last finds Ollie, and finds the book that will take them both home.

The production will be approximately 45 minutes long and will tour to 10 libraries over a 10 day period.  The play is being written for a single performer and will involve multiple characters, some of which will be portrayed using puppetry.
