Artistic Director of The Point & The Berry Theatre
in the region of £46,000 (full time)

The Point, Eastleigh and its sister venue The Berry Theatre are home to a lively programme of theatre, dance, aerial and film. The Point with its unique Creation Space is a National Portfolio Organisation in the South West region, which has a national reputation for dance development and contemporary performance. The Berry Theatre is developing into an important regional centre for drama and new writing with a particular emphasis on new work for families. The theatres need a dynamic leader to deliver our artistic vision, support our Associate Artist programme, lead our creative learning team and support the wider creative Eastleigh agenda. 

You will have a background in programming in a busy performing arts venue and a specialism in theatre, dance and contemporary performance would be an advantage. You will have knowledge of the UK creative industries and its key players and an understanding of UK/International contemporary arts practice and arts participation and will have a strong professional network. Experience of managing staff teams is essential, along with the ability to develop staff and to nurture talent. As the overseer of the Creating Learning team you will need a commitment to education and community arts development. 

The successful applicant will be a strong communicator with entrepreneurial flair you will have proven financial and people management skills, be IT literate and administratively self-supporting.

Dance Intern at The Point, Eastleigh
Salary: £15,917
(pro-rata), 30 hours a week

Our sister venue The Point, Eastleigh is looking for an enthusiastic graduate to work as a Dance Intern within the busy dance department at The Point. 

The role will provide support for the department, including administrating and co-ordinating The Point’s dance classes programme, education workshops and community projects and Hampshire Youth Dance Company. The Dance Intern will also assist with The Point Youth Dance Company, teaching and attending rehearsals and performances and carrying out all administration for the company. 

This placement provides a unique opportunity for a keen individual to gain invaluable and varied experience of working in a professional dance venue as part of a busy, dynamic team. As part of the role you will benefit from a number of training opportunities, networking events and professional development. 

The successful applicant will be able to show initiative and understand dance in a community context. Strong administrative, communication and IT skills are important and a real passion for the arts is essential.
