Applications welcomed for local Associate Artist opportunity

The Point Eastleigh and The Berry Theatre in Hedge End are searching for emerging local artists and companies to welcome as part of their Associate Scheme.

Do you make unforgettable performance work for traditional or non-traditional performance spaces? Do you use your creativity to work in a social context to enrich the lives of others, or work with marginalised communities to amplify their voices?

The Associate Artist scheme, which has been successfully running for over 10 years, tailors the associateship to best fit the needs of applicants. Its benefits include support and mentorship, seed funding of £500 and use of the venues’ spaces.

Potential applicants must live in Eastleigh Borough or within a 20-mile radius and must be prepared to work in a way that is meaningfully connected to local communities. The scheme is most beneficial to emerging or early-career artists.

Full details of how to apply can be found on the Associate Artists page of The Point’s website.

The Point Eastleigh and The Berry Theatre in Hedge End are owned and operated by Eastleigh Borough Council. The Point’s Associate Artist programme is generously supported by Arts Council England.

Charlotte Hall, Creative Director of The Point Eastleigh and The Berry Theatre, said: “Our Associate Artists scheme has a fantastic track record of propelling creative careers and we are thrilled to be opening our doors to a new round of artists.

“The scheme will provide vital support, particularly essential after the challenges of the pandemic, helping artists to grow through mentorship, training and seed funding. We are incredibly excited to work with the next generation of artists to creatively ignite our Borough.”
