The Point has launched its new-for-2018 Sponsor a Seat campaign with a tribute to local woman Joan Orman.
The commemorative seat plaque for Joan is the first to be placed in The Point’s auditorium, as part of the venue’s new Sponsor a Seat initiative. Joan’s family said:
“It’s a great honour for our Mum’s name to be on one of the first plaques, and to be read by so many people enjoying others perform on stage, which she loved doing for many years. Mum was suddenly taken from us over five years ago but she lives on in all her family and this is a small, but very poignant, gesture for a wonderfully talented lady.”
Sponsor a Seat at The Point gives people the opportunity to buy a little piece of the venue, placing a plaque which carries a bespoke inscription. The campaign also supports towards the funding of the venue with options to purchase a plaque for five years for £250 or a lifetime for £900.
The Point’s main house plays host to national and international artists and companies presenting works across theatre, dance and circus. Purchasing a seat gives avid arts fans the chance to be a part of the building’s varied and interesting history.
