The Point Training Scheme, created for young people aged 11-15, is welcoming applications following a successful launch this year.
The scheme was developed to offer bespoke high quality training to locally-based young dancers looking to further their practice in dance. The training gives participants a stable foundation of technique, understanding, creative response and the opportunity to develop their existing skills.
Running January to July 2019, participants will work with professional choreographer Carrie Whittaker (co-Artistic Director of The Point’s @HOME company Lîla Dance) and ballet tutor Fiona Wallis (the only SAFE® BARRE qualified dance practitioner in the UK). Young people enrolled on the scheme will also have the opportunity to watch inspiring professional performances at The Point, and develop and present a piece of new work at the venue’s annual Hothouse Dance Excellence platform.
To apply applicants need to fill in an application form, available on The Point’s website. Those applying don’t have to have previous dance training, but enthusiasm, commitment and a passion for the discipline is essential. Places will be offered to those who the team see promising potential in.
The deadline for applications is Friday 30th November and shortlisted applicants will be invited to audition on Sunday 9th December at 2018 The Point.
