Nua Dance: Quimera

A multidisciplinary performance and dance film bringing together dance, circus and theatre artists.

Dance meets circus in QUIMERA, a powerful and darkly funny performance inspired by Cervantes’ Don Quixote. Quimera is a retiree and she wants to change the world, emerging from her tiny room into a fantastical landscape that inadvertently leads her to becoming a hero.

Nua Dance's newest and most ambitious work to date features a five person intergenerational ensemble, led by Sarah Dowling (Royal Opera House associate artist), including circus and dance artists. Combining elements of contemporary dance with aerial and acrobatics techniques, choreographer Neus Gil Cortés exposes the contradictions of a world we often choose not to see with her characteristic mix of humour with quirky and extreme physicality.
