We have an exciting season ahead this
summer, and with such a variety of events there is bound to be
something that suits everyone. This summer is all about getting
involved as we throw open our doors and extend our events onto the
adjacent park and newly renovated outdoor stage.
The Point’s annual dance festival returns with more opportunities to
take part regardless of age and ability. Highlights include a sense
of wellbeing day – dedicated to
unwinding and de-stressing; Jump Out – a
free day for
all the family with opportunities to
watch and take part in a variety of dance styles and an explosive
evening of hip-hop as well as some of
the favourite festival events including Class Moves, Hothouse and
It’s a Small World.
The Point is also celebrating the
centenary of aviation in Eastleigh this summer with a specially
commissioned play ‘When the Saintz go
Marching in’ involving more than 60 performers from the
local community.
The nostalgia theme continues when we
go back to the 1940s with a swing night hosted by award winning
dance company the Jiving Lindy Hoppers -
come dressed circa 1940s and watch or join in with dance
numbers
including The Charleston, the Lindy
and Rhythm tap.
Fast forward four decades when
hilarious comedy dance duo, New Art Club, ask you to join them in
their reminiscences of the 1980s as they deconstruct the first ever
‘Now that’s what I call Music’. StopGAP dance company will premiere their new
work by choreographers Thomas Noone and Rob Tannion (Stan won’t
dance) and Leigh Road
recreation ground is once again
brought to life with award winning artists, including Cara Dillon
and Badly Drawn Boy at Eastleigh Music
Festival.
Keep an eye out for the autumn season
which will be the first led by our new Director and we’ll be
relaunching our website too!
As always, we look forward to welcoming you to the venue.
