Changemakers in Residence
Our Changemakers in Residence are trail blazing local companies who are using creative action to make a difference in our communities. They are working alongside us because of a shared purpose and desire to have a positive impact on local people and places, and we believe that by working together we can achieve even more, working together to enrich and improve people’s lives and to create a greener, brighter future.
Wild Hive Collective
Wild Hive Collective CIC is a group (and growing network) of passionate local growers; educators, ecologists and environmentalists. We initially formed as an offshoot of Highbridge Community Farm in Eastleigh (originally a Transition Network project), and are now working with various school, outdoor learning, and community growing sites in and around Eastleigh to bring more sustainable growing and nature-connectedness into our local neighbourhoods. In 2022 we were invited to become Changemakers in Residence at The Point, to help enrich Eastleigh’s new Sustainability Hub.
Using our collective experience, we are developing Local Grow (a meal) Kits & Packs, together with linked practical sessions to engage, enthuse and enable young and old alike to grow greener together. Our aim is to help people to protect and create more ‘wildly abundant’ edible and biodiverse landscapes on our doorsteps.
By helping people to reconnect with nature, and demonstrating the numerous ‘harvests’ that can be grown, shared and enjoyed through ecological and regenerative growing practices, we hope to naturally inspire and equip this and the next generation to adopt them. Our positive environmental actions draw our local communities together, as we collectively discover nourishing ways to protect the planet, wildlife and ourselves.
We advocate the Permaculture values of Earth Care; People Care and Fair Share, and are working with Permaculture Practitioners, The Point and various Traditional Craftspeople and Nature-Connectors to create a range of accessible introductory sessions, open to all in the community. Our seasonal ‘Small but Mighty’ workshops and ‘Big Ideas’ activities are carefully curated to spark ‘creative imaginings’ and offer hope as we grow together for a Greener; Brighter Future.
