We are proud to be a regional powerhouse for contemporary dance where we support and inspire dancers at all stages of their training. Contemporary dance offers a creative performance style fusing ideas from a wide range of dance techniques. Dancers can begin in a contemporary dance class with no other dance training, or join following training in another style, such as ballet, jazz, folk or street dance.

Our dancers enjoy learning new things, pushing boundaries, developing ideas and working as an ensemble to create new and exciting performances. Our Point Youth Dance Companies are non-audition based contemporary dance classes open for young people aged 8-18 years.

Professional tutors will be on hand to progress your dance practice in a fun and friendly environment.

Booking and class sizes: All classes must be pre-booked, as keeping everyone safe whilst having fun is our utmost priority. Our class sizes are carefully monitored to ensure safe social distancing.

Our Box Office will not be open, so you will not be able to book in person when you arrive.

We do require a minimum number in each class for it to be viable to run. In the event that there are not enough bookings for your class to go ahead we will contact you as early as possible and organise a full refund.

On arrival: Please arrive five minutes before your class time and wait at the garden stage (the area to the side of the theatre nearest to Leigh Road Recreation Grounds). There are currently no indoor public waiting areas for classes.

Parents / Carers: Parents/carers can leave participants once they have safely been admitted through the garden stage doors. If you wish to remain in the building our café area will be open with refreshments available to purchase between 10am and 2pm on weekdays.

Face masks / coverings: Face coverings are required at all times when moving through our buildings and for some activity. Your class tutor will advise when masks can be removed.

Changing: Unfortunately we are unable to offer changing facilities whilst the building is set-up for social distancing. Please arrive ready for your class in appropriate clothing.

What to wear and bring with you: Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move about in.

Please bring your own water bottle filled for the class, as our water fountains will not be in use.

Keeping safe & social around the building: Please use the hand sanitiser stations provided. You may be in a different room than you are used to, so we'd like to remind you to maintain a 2m distance from both classmates and staff and to follow the social distancing guidelines marked on the floor. You will be given instructions for leaving via the garden stage following your class. All our spaces will be thoroughly cleaned.

Toilets: Your instructor will let you know which toilets you should use – please bear in mind capacities will be limited at any one time.
