Did you know that alongside the live performance programme in our theatre, we also run a packed programme of activity in our dance studio including a busy schedule of weekly dance and theatre classes, open to beginners and advanced level participants?
On Wednesday evenings, we run a friendly and welcoming Adult Ballet class suitable for those who dance regularly or who are returning to ballet after a break. Run by our dance tutor Madison Burgess, this is a mixed ability class and although some ballet experience is advisable, there is an emphasis on warmth and supportiveness.
Originally from Canada, Madison is a dance artist, choreographer, fitness and dance teacher currently based in Chichester. Since graduating from York University’s BFA Dance programme in 2016 and completing her MA in Performance at the University of Chichester in 2021, Madison has had the privilege of teaching across the globe, alongside her professional performing career. She currently teaches ballet and contemporary dance at The Point and University of Chichester, as well as Pilates and barre for Chichester based fitness studios.
Madison’s passion for dance began at the age of four and since then she has loved making it her fulltime career! This passion runs through the classes she teaches.
So, what makes this Adult Ballet class different to others? Here’s just a few of things you can expect…
- Madison teaches a new class repertoire every six weeks, to keep both bodies and minds working
- With each new class, comes a newly curated accompanying playlist
- Due to Madison’s training, you can expect a classical ballet class with a contemporary twist
- This is a light-hearted, bubbly and open class
And what do our current participants say about the class…
