Arts Award for brilliant Billy

We are delighted to our first completed Arts Award Discover submission.

The Arts Award Discover introductory award is a Trinity College London qualification designed for ages 5 to 25 to explore the arts. It is currently offered by The Point as part of  our #ConnectionPoint programme to connect with those who are currently socially distancing or self-isolating at home.

To achieve an Arts Award Discover, children and young people collect evidence in an individual arts log of their experiences of taking part in arts activities; research artists or craftspeople and their work; and share their arts discoveries.

The first completed entry was sent to us by a young local man named Billy who chose the artist David Hockney as his subject.

The project is overseen by The Point’s Creative Education Producer Emma Christie who said: “We were thrilled to receive Billy’s fantastic Arts Award Discover At Home! As Part B of his project, he explored the work of artist David Hockney.

"I really like Billy’s version of Hockney’s The Gate and his experimentation with patterns. If you look closely at his painting you can see where Billy has been mixing colour too.

Great work Billy!
