National Theatre beckons for Point Eastleigh’s youth theatre Ensemble

The Point Eastleigh’s Ensemble performing arts group has been selected to take part in the National Theatre’s Connections 2023

Connections is the National Theatre's annual nationwide youth theatre festival to support the theatre-makers of tomorrow. The programme has been established for 27 years and champions the talent of young people from across the UK.

As part of the festival, the Ensemble – which has been allocated Chichester Festival Theatre as a Partner Theatre - will perform new work created by some of the UK's most exciting writers. The 2023 plays commissioned for Connections include a piece by Lisa McGee, the writer of Derry Girls.

The Point Ensemble, in association with BearFace Theatre Company, is a group for young people aged 15 and over who create their own work. The group expand their performance skills and knowledge working with a professional mentor, telling stories and bringing inspiring performance to audiences across Eastleigh and beyond.

Charlotte Hall, Creative Director at The Point Eastleigh, said: “It is so exciting that teenagers living locally can be involved in this fantastic project and explores issues relevant to them whist developing their confidence and creativity.

"We have no doubt that performing at both The Point Eastleigh and Chichester Festival Theatre will create memories to last a lifetime and we cannot wait to see what they produce in collaboration with the brilliant BearFace Theatre.”

The next term for the Ensemble begins on Monday 12 September 2022. Full details
