The Point to host two-day aerial symposium for practitioners, artists, choreographers, researchers and healthcare professionals
Experienced aerial performers, teachers, choreographers and directors can benefit from a two day symposium hosted by internationally acclaimed aerial-dance company Gravity & Levity in partnership with One Dance UK and The Point, Eastleigh.
The symposium will support delegates in their practice, discussing aerial techniques, performance and pedagogy through lectures, practical sessions and round table discussions.
Speakers include award-winning aerialist and co-founder of the New England Center for Circus Arts Serenity Forchion Smith; Myofascial Movement Training specialist Gary Carter alongside Perform Health – circus physio specialist James Wellington and many other inspiring practitioners from the world of aerial plus sports and dance science medicine professionals.
The symposium offers both practical sessions, round table discussions, video presentations and lectures from 'applying periodisation to aerial practice' to 'hyper-mobility and its implications'.
Amelia Cavallo will also share her experiences as a blind professional aerialist and asks what do we mean when we talk about making aerial skills accessible?
Dissecting Aerial & Accessible Aerial Symposium is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and Vertical Dance Forum.
Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th January. Tickets are £125 for two days / £70 for one.
