Get ready for a Creative Youth Revolution at The Point this September!

This Autumn we will dedicate even more time and resource to our Young Companies, whilst our Youth Theatre will get a brand new home on Saturdays in our Studio Theatre. Our Creative Director Charlotte Hall shares why this change matters and how you can take part...

'When I started at The Point just over a year ago, I was thrilled to join an organisation so committed to young people. We provide a safe space for them to play and enjoy themselves, enable them to learn new things about the world, themselves and each other and offer a place where young people in our area can feel at home, grow in confidence and enjoy being creative together.

Specialising in theatre and dance, our Young Companies share and celebrate in the hard work and talent of company members through performance opportunities, taking to the stage at The Point, at Unwrapped Festival and our picturesque Garden Stage. The best bit is that you don’t need to be an expert to join.

It matters hugely to us that the Point Youth Theatre and Point Youth Dance Company are open access, with no need to audition and welcoming to everyone. We believe in the power of young creative companies to ignite the potential of everyone, whatever path they take in the future. As someone who has been working with Youth Theatres for many years, I have seen first-hand what an important and positive part it plays in young people’s lives. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a young person’s pride in what they have achieved in a session, a rehearsal or in a show.

Therefore, you can imagine how excited I am that from September, our Youth Theatre will expand and provide even more opportunities for young people aged 4 – 18. We can’t wait for our building to come to life on Saturday, overflowing with energy and creativity. In the Spring term, school Years R to 9 will begin working together to create a fabulous show to be performed at The Point during the Easter holidays (stay tuned for an announcement about that very soon!).

Our older group, Point Ensemble will continue to explore topics and techniques that matter to them and make for thrilling and memorable performances with the brilliant BearFace Theatre. Alongside this, our exceptional Youth Dance companies, including our flagship companies HYDC and ORB, will also take to the stage over Easter providing a powerhouse of talent and charting the future of dance.

There has never been a better time than right now to get your child or young person involved in The Point Young Companies. We are open to new members right now and you can sign up using the links below. We also have a bring a friend and save on term fees offer and bursary options available for those whose circumstances may make it harder to access our young companies thanks to our Youth Pathways Fund. If you’d like to try before you buy, don’t miss our upcoming taster sessions in August and September.

We hope you can join us on this exciting new adventure!'
