Street to the Point, The Point’s street theatre company, welcomes Kazzum to the venue this week to deliver a workshop that explores how to create immersive performance for unusual places.
Street to the Point is made up of senior Youth Theatre members of The Point and The Berry Theatre aged 14-18 years old. The company, which celebrates six years in 2018, encourages young people to create, devise and present original theatre works, performed at outdoor arts events across the UK.
Every year the company works closely with established theatre practitioners and artists, growing their practice through interactive workshops. Kazzum, a renowned street theatre company who have been making work since 1989 – are visiting the venue to share their expertise with the company this February.
“I am very much looking forward to working with Street to the Point. I hope it will be fun and engaging for the young company as they devise new ideas for their upcoming outdoor performances. We have learnt many lessons at Kazzum over the years in how to engage audiences, create compelling characters and improvise in outdoor settings and it’s great to share the knowledge, but I really hope that the young people will teach me a few new tricks in return!” – Alex Evans, Associate Artist at Kazzum
Street to the Point creates witty, intelligent work that is relevant to the community settings in which it is performed. Find out more here.
